Russian tourism industry loses 1.5 tln rbl over coronavirus
YEKATERINBURG, Oct 2 (PRIME) -- The coronavirus pandemic incurred 1.5 trillion rubles of losses to the Russian tourism industry, Andrei Ignatyev, president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, told reporters on Friday.
“Losses of the tourism industry are estimated at 1.5 trillion rubles as of now. This is a large sum. This is a total sum of losses that includes the hotel sector and the restaurant sector,” he said.
It would take at least two years for the industry to rebound.
“The market of organized tourism is working professionally and in a stable way. It showed its stability in the period of tough times. And I hope that some time later, when this pandemic ends someday, it will recover very fast, through it would take at least two years for that,” he said.
